Korea, Goryeo dynasty, 12th/13th century
The deep celadon bowl tapering to a short ring foot, simply decorated
with lotus large single petals on the exteriors, applied with evenly pale
greyish blue celadon glaze over the body, ring foot unglazed.
It is in good condition, measures 16.1cm x 8cm.

Made for a civilian official of first to third rank, the almost square showing a double white cranes jointly grasping a Pulloch’o stalk in mouth, soaring above stylized forming waves and amid clouds outlined in couched thread, worked in shades of blue, green white and purple on a green silk ground.
