A Rare/Fine Korean 3 Monster Face Roof End Tiles-Goguryeo, 高句麗 (one of 3 King Domes)-BC4-AD 6th C: Korea, Goguryeo (高句麗) dynasty, BC 4 – AD 6th century. The circular tile finely molded with Monster face (궤면문) design surrounded by a raised thick rim, soft brownish clay used. It is good condition, it measures 6” and 5.5” ******For a similar example see Tokyo National Museum, Ogura Collection, donated by The Otura Foundation (Tokyo, 1982), p.102

Gautama Buddha (Shakyamuni, Shaka-Nyorai). Joseon Dynasty, Korea, 18th century at least. H 25 x W 13 x D 10 cm (9.84 x 5.11 x 3.93in)...

Good late Joseon Dynasty, 19th century stoneware cup/bowl with high footrim and pale greenish gray glaze and gray stoneware , this is a simple regional folk ware but has a pleasing almost celadon feel to it that needs to be held to be appreciated. There is some kiln grit in the cavetto as well as three minor hairline stress cracks. H: 8.7cm/3.5in and D: 13.1cm//5.2in.

Pojagi made of fragments which are mainly ramie, some fragments with hand-plied warps and wefts, and some fragments with machine plied warps and wefts. Fuchsia pink fragments are cotton. The frame cloth is figured silk. Generally, in good condition. The second half of the 20th century. W:100cm, L:103cm, Belts:37cm

Rare 19th Century Korean Wooden Lacquered Chopstick Holder. The front panel features a carved lozenge shape, an ancient symbol of the Seven Treasures: silver, gold, coral, lapis lazuli, agate, seashell, and amber. The top is carved into the shape of the mythical bullocho longevity plant. It has an iron ring for hanging and displaying. 12.5h x 4w x 2.5d inches, 32 x 10 x 6.5 cm.

Early 20th Century Lacquered Personal Dining Table from Haeju, Korea (Haeju Soban) with an elegant design of a key-fret apron and the ancient Korean legend of the carp swimming upstream and up the waterfall to successfully transform into a dragon and fly into the skies. Images of this story were displayed in children's rooms to encourage them to succeed in their studies and aspirations. 19.25w x 16h x 14d inches, 49 x 41 x 35.5 cm.

Rare 19th Century Korean Gilded Bronze Military Rank Badge with traces of gold. This badge was worn on a high-ranking military officer's hat, as shown in the third photo here. It was acquired in Seoul in 1946. 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm). Frame: 8.5 x 8.5 inches, 21 x 21 cm).

Rare and Slightly Subversive 19th Century Korean Painting of the Medicine Buddha, Yak Bul, seated on a lotus blossom throne and accompanied by an attendant. A strategically placed phallic ginseng emerges from the center of his robe in a reference to its legendary powers of virility. The attendant stares directly at it as a form disguised in his garment emerges straight up from the center of his body, as well, while he holds his fan erect...

You rarely see 19th Century Korean tiger paintings offered for sale anymore. When they do come up in auctions now, they sell for more than we are asking here. That's because there is nothing anywhere like Joseon Era Korean tiger folk paintings. Tigers in Korean paintings are not ferocious. They are humorous and full of personality. And each one is unique, like this fellow here being addressed by the magpie...

A Korean, Maebyeong, plum blossom vase; C14th. Its broad, round shoulders and tapering waist are covered overall with a celadon glaze. This ash-derived glaze has run and made rivulets down the side of the vase, which along with the asymetrical shape, contributes to a very wab-sabi feel to this Maebyeong. It would look spectacular with a branch of plum blossom. Height, 30.5 cm Good condition. Provenance; from a Japanese collection.
