Korean 19th Century Porcelain High-Footed Bowl (Choson)

This "heavily-potted" bowl with a high foot was made in 19th century, during the late Choson (Joseon) Dynasty. It is coated all over in a pale grey glaze, that has, possibly, just the slightest hint of blue. Embedded in the glaze around the foot rim are many pieces of kiln grit.

Korean Koryo Dynasty 13th/14th Century Glazed Stoneware Bottle / Jar

This attractively-shaped stoneware bottle was made during the 13th / 14th century. It has a wide round body, a short narrow neck and a cup-shaped mouth. The surface is coated in a finely-crackled olive-green glaze, the colour varying in places according to its thickness. In places where the glaze is particularly thin, it has degraded a little over time and flaked from the surface.

A brass wash pan that was used for personal grooming during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been formed by the process known as wrought, where the metal is worked into shape by beating it with a hammer. The hammering marks on this pan are clearly visible. The pan measures 4 3/4" high x 16 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. It is good example of folk ware and metal art. The condition is very good, with some stains and corrosion that could be polished out...

Antique Korean nong, bedside chests for storage. Made with zelkova elm wood burl panels and cypress wood frame. On the front, black and deep red lacquer frames and highlights the burl wood grain. Hardware is made of brass and features bat drawer pulls and buddhist symbols. The upper portion of the chest has a row of 4 small drawers. Hinged doors open to a large open compartment.

A large heavy Korean brass bowl or tray that was used to carry smaller bowls of rice and vegetables to men working in the fields. The bowl was wrought to shape, and it shows the evidence of being hand pounded. The Bowl measures about 3 1/2" high x 13 1/2" in diameter, weighs about 3 1/2 pounds, and dates to the early 20th Century. The condition is very good with only minor surface tarnish and corrosion. It was the custom in Korea to polish brass, and such a bowl would shine up beautifully...

The gilding is slightly greenish and very thick, it has gone in places as we can see in the photo. These offering stands were used in Korea on a family altar to elevate offering to worship ones ancestors. These stands were owned by poor people and farmers, and they are good examples of Korean folk art. The largest stand is about 6" in diameter, followed by one at 5 1/2" and the other at 4 3/4". All of them show spur marks and grit where they were stacked for firing in a large kiln. They are all in good condition with no damage. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

Antique Korean pair of small Koryŏ porcelain cups. Elegant form with small feet and sharply flared sides. Fine celadon glaze in pale blue with high transparency. The interiors are a paler translucent glaze. Each cup has a simple blue underglaze dot in the underside of the foot.
