A fine pair of very old wood funnels for sowing, with a circular top and a squarish base for one and a rectangular base for the other. Holes are perforated through, from top to base, to let seeds be poured on the top, pass through and be scattered on the soil. Both are decorated with carved Hindu designs in relief on the body, one with god Ganesh and the other with Nandi bull, a Hindu deity and a symbol. They were made in India around the beginning of the 19th century...

A figure depicting a goddess is seated on a platform in Dhyanasana. She wears a sash that hangs across her hip and is adorned with a long necklace, bracelets on her wrists, and armbands... Very rare Citipati phurbu, finely carved, representing, from top to bottom, first a circular platform in relief decorated with stylised lotuses, below four Citipati skulls in relief with a pitcher and a trident in between, then below the "handle" with a chevron design, and finally the bottom "blade" with a "makara" head in relief with two snakes in relief behind it. The phurbu is made of wood, with a fine age patina and some abrasion due to great age. Height: 27.5 cm...
A rare round Indian pandan, a lidded betel container, made of zinc alloy, decorated with drop pattern between scroll bordures, finely inlaid in silver and brass. The interior of both halves, of the thinly worked box, with concentric rings. Please compare Zebrowski's "Gold, Silver & Bronze from Mughal India" 1997, no. 469. Condition: rim losses, lid with hole, some inlays lost. Dimension: diameter c. 14.8 cm, c. 11.7 cm high.

Small jar,perhaps a censer, in embossed copper applied with bronze motifs in relief, held by rivets. The base part is decorated with a band of palms and the upper part with Swastika. These two bands are cold gilded with gold powder which is firmly held probably by lacquer. The patina is excellent and guarantees a very old piece.
Probably Tibet, 19th century or before...

The piece measures 5-1/2" in height and 2" in width. The detail on this relatively small statue is exceedingly well-done, as the photos will, hopefully, demonstrate. Pieces of this quality are uncommon.

SOLD This is a deeply carved three-dimensional carving from the early to mid-19th century depicting Bhairava, the wrathful form of Shiva. The piece most likely formed part of a processional chariot which would have carried a statue of Shiva. The piece measures 15" X 7" and is over 3" in depth. This is a powerfully dramatic sculpture with a rarely encountered subject. Minor losses to one hand, consistent with its age and ritual use.
