The jade is deeply carved with grooves that are filled with hammered pure gold. Simple decoration of stylized flowers and leaves, probably tulips. Ottoman Empire, circa 1650–1750. This cylinder was probably an intermediate element between the stem and the mouthpiece, probably made of amber. Good condition, no restoration. Some missing inlays visible in photos. $395.00 Indian stag antler carving of a mother and a child on her laps. Possibly Parvati and Ganesha. Ganesha’s head is worn out, so the trunk is barely visible, but his ears are large and obviously are not those of a human.
The sculpture captures the nurturing and maternal bond between a mother and her child, a theme celebrated in Hindu mythology.
