A fabulous Bottle form vase by legendary Nakagawa Jinenbo enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Chossen Karatsu Tsuru Kubi Hanaire. It is 12.5 cm (5 inches) diameter, 22.5 cm (9 inches) tall and in perfect condition.
Nakagawa Jinenbo (1953-2011) was always fascinated with Karatsu ware, and studied under the great Inoue Toya from the age of 24. Several years later he returned to his hometown to establish a climbing kiln of his own, which he put to great use... An exquisite small igneous tea bowl, the sides cut and faceted by Atarashi Manabu enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Shinogi Chawan. Shinogi is this method of cutting away portions of the surface, in this case in waving patterns. This both allows the natural ash glaze a foot hold as it blows through the kiln, and as it cools, allows the molten ash to flow and create striking patterns on the surface...

The irises rise gracefully among the green leaves stretching upward. At the base, small lotus leaves can be seen, while on the reverse, in a small space free from the main decoration, branches of chrysanthemums bloom.
