It was in a scenery of a fairy lady sitting in a garden full of metaphoric plants and animals. The whole picture was in good meaning. Date: Qing Dynasty, 19th Century. Dimensions with frame : 28.4cm x28. 4cm Chinese late Qing dynasty red silk temple hanging or altar frontispiece embroidered in metallic-couched and polychrome silk threads. The lower section features a stand holding a variety of vessels. A pair of bats and a pair of butterflies fly around a censer at the left that is emitting fumes. At the center of the stand, a central vase is filled with blossoming flowers while a vessel behind it contains fruit. A vessel at the right holds a variety of objects...

The sleeve bands are embroidered with cranes among branches laden with fruit and flowers set against a white ground bordered with woven ribbon accents. The collar, side closure, and ruyi head-form hem are all embroidered with butterflies and stylized flowers edged in yellow silk and ribbons set against a white ground. Five floral form metal buttons secure the side closure...

The bird stands on a rock with lingzhi mushrooms, floral scrolls, leaping carp, the rising sun, a flying bat, and bordered by auspicious characters and lucky bats. Meant to be worn on the back of a man's robe.

The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing, was the last imperial dynasty of China. It was established in 1636, and ruled China proper from 1644 to 1912. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China... This is a traditional Qing Dynasty woman's skirt.
Chines skirts during this time period were made in 2 sections which were "buttoned" together with "frogs" The skirt was then wrapped around the hips so that the flat sections were displayed at at the front and back....the pleated sections were at draped the sides...
The background fabric of this skirt is an unusually fine jacquard silk but the pattern of the jacquard does not show in the pics....the pleated sections of the skirt and also meti...
