This 19th Century traditional Han Chinese robe would have been used for winter wear. It uses dark black satin weave silk fabric, and has very wide cuffs with floral embroidery and the shape is trimmed out with a floral silk ribbon. This is a beautifully embroidered Chinese silk fan case, done almost entirely in the Peking knot technique, sometimes called "blind stitch." Both sides of the piece have been embroidered. Areas of the decoration have been skillfully raised to create a "3-D" effect. The embroidery is in exceptional, unfaded condition. This rare antique bag was made and used by the Yi ethnic minority... It was made from hand corded plant fiber,tied into a series of knots to form a shallow sack. Originally there would have been a fabric shoulder strap which would have been tied around the loops on either side of the top of the bag... The front of the bag is decorated with a traditional silver ornament depicting a butterfly. The bag is in tact: no holes, or rips but is dirty from use and age....

Antique Chinese framed hand-woven Kesi panel, made from silk with gold thread, depicting a scene of court women, attending to the central figure by offering her tea, a lotus, and other accoutrements. The surrounding area has large scholar rocks and plants with ruyi motifs, a platform with a picture of waves hung against the wall. The front and backside may be viewed through the framing, which has edges carved like bamboo with gold finish...
