Chinese 18th Century / Qianlong Grisaille Porcelain Cup - Cupid

Qing dynasty, Qianlong reign (1736 - 1795). The decoration, en grisaille with rouge de fer (iron red) and minimal gilding around the rim, featuring a gentlemen musician serenading a lady, with Cupid, the Roman god of love, to the left firing an arrow, and trees and ships' masts in the background.

Height 6 cm. Very good condition: the usual wear to the gilding and a couple of "fleabites" to the mouth edge...

Song Qingbai bowl with high foot rim and thick classic aquamarine Qingbai glaze, there is a 1cm hairline off the mouthrim (noted in last enlargement) otherwise good condition. The glaze is absolutely fabulous. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 7cm/2.8in

A rare and powerful pottery figure from the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD), depicting a stylized mythical beast with the physical strength and mass of a bull yet bearing the horned, armored features reminiscent of a rhinoceros. Standing four-square with a broad, muscular body, arched back, and sharply upturned tail, the creature’s head is crowned with three prominent horn-like projections. Along its spine, a series of raised nodules further enhance its fantastical presence...

A pair quadrangular terracotta vases or incense stick holders in the shape of a gu. With molded decoration of flowers, waves and Buddhist symbols covered by a turquoise glaze. Base and rims are unglazed, stands with later annotations. Condition: rims with few old chips, glaze with partial small losse, one rim with short fabrication crack. Dimension: c. 21.3 to 21.6 cm height, weight: c. 1430 g.

The overall is 18.3 inches (46.5 cm) in diameter. The little dish is 5.9 inches (15 cm) long by 7 inches (17.7 cm) wide. The round dish is 7.9 inches ( 20 cm) in diameter. Total weight is 5.5 lb.

Some of the dishes have crazing, rubbing of golds, skip glazes, and surface wears and scratches. One small dish has hairline cracks and skip glazes at the underside...
