A piece of rug made of cotton cloth, one side is vegetable indigo dye plain and the other side is stripe. It has roughly sewn sashiko (quilting) and has four layers of cloth. In good condition but it has some stains and indigo faded parts. The first half of the 20th century. 164cm x 166cm

This young guy’s stuff is very chic; a sake set by Kato Yoshiyasu in purest white and darkest black, everything a dialog between shadow and form. Here the artist has used a combination of his repertoire. The cup is pure white dipped into black, the black then chiseled away in divots creating a beautiful pattern for the eyes and texture for fingers. Large and heavy antique Japanese Seto ware Kashiki (dessert) bowl made during Mid-Edo Period (1603-1868)

Seto pottery, dated as early as the 13th century, produced around Seto city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
It is also considered as one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan.

A small Imari porcelain teapot of rectangular form with an arch-shaped handle ending in a blossom. Beautifully decorated with a hare and a dragon in a cartouche between flowery motifs in iron red, green, yellow and gold, the top with auspicious longevity characters in underglaze blue. The flat base without glaze. Condition: fine, only the knob of the lid with a tiny loss. Dimension: c. 14.6 cm high, 12.5 cm long.

A gun powder container (kayaku-ire) made of twisted paper string and urushi (lacquer) is painted. It is very sturdy and light-weight so that it was made to many living wares such as a bowl, a sake cup, jingasa (hat), tobacco pouch, trunk, etc. from Edo period. A fabulous stone textured Guinomi by Inayoshi Osamu enclosed in the original signed wooden box featuring dark raw clay alternating with black and white glaze. Osamu is very low production, and very selective of what he allows out into the world, and I am proud to be able to offer this.
