Ther pear shaped body sloping on a raised ring foot and tapering to a narrow neck with flaring lip, decorated in a white slip carved in sgraffito style with lotus blossom below a band of abstracted leaf design, all beneath a pale celadon glaze, its ring foot unglazed and base celadon glazed. Japanese antique two section kasane isho tansu (stacking clothing chest). Made with all kiri (paulownia) wood on the front. The sides, top and drawer interiors are sugi (cryptomeria) wood. Iron hardware includes round lock plates and warabite shaped drawer pulls. Each section is an equal height of 18 3/4" so they could be used side by side.
