Originally a woven bamboo biku (fishing creel), reinterpreted as a hanging flower vase in the wabi aesthetic of the tea ceremony. Japan, Shōwa period, 20th century. Approx. H 20 × W 16 × D 12 cm (7.9 × 6.3 × 4.7 in). Well-preserved and unused, with only minor age-related wear.
