An interesting pair of Japanese Arita saucer form dishes decorated in a transitional style incorporating elements of the Kakiemon style, notably the asymmetric elements within the reserves to the outer rim of the dish, with Katamono style motifs dating to the late 17th century or early 18th century made for the domestic market. For a more sophisticated version of this type of design in Katamono style dated 1680-1700 see Shibata Volume II no 422. These dishes probably date from the period 1690-17...

A rice bowl and its accompanying cover cum small sauce dish dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century decorated entirely in enamels with gilding. The exterior of the bowl and cover are decorated with a turquoise green brocade ground which is intended to simulate a Chinese enamelled scrafitto pattern of the period. Chinese Tang dynasty (618-907) pottery tomb figure depicting a female attendant dressed in a red hooded gown. 8 3/4" high. Very good overall condition with cold painted facial features and much original pigment remaining. Typical losses. The figure can stand upright on the flat base without a support. From an old Tucson, Arizona collection. Purchased from a California gallery in the 1990s.

A pair of Chinese porcelain bowls decorated with iron-red enamel depicting two dragons chasing a fire ball. Four characters studio mark "Fu You Tang Zhi" inside the foot rims. 19th century. Condition: One bowl is in perfect condition; the other has a chip on foot rim, and four very fade hairlines on the rim, the longest one is about one inch, there might be small chips accompanying the hairline and now be professionally restored. These flaws can only be seen under strong light. Diameters: 5-1/4"...

Chinese hand scroll painted with landscape scenes, ink on paper. The first panel has a bold calligraphy preface signed with two red chops. The central panel is the longest with misty landscapes, signed Yi Long with three red chops. The last panel with small calligraphy inscription and three red chops. Antique Korean single section bedside chest, with book matched front panels of hardwood burl. Four drawers line the top of the chest with brass handles in motifs of butterflies. The front of the chest features a pair of doors with a large brass central plate and brass butterfly hinges.

A rare small solid bronze figure of a lion, of asymmetric form and with with unusual chased and punched surface decoration. It is attached with a single rivet to a contemporary base and is movable by about 30 degrees. This item either made in China during the Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644) or possibly much earlier. A rare, attractively enamelled, figure of the Bodhisattva and Japanese "Goddess of Mercy", Kannon.. Unusually, she is seated on a large boulder inhabited by a writhing white glazed dragon. This item was made in Japan in the Meiji period, during the 19th or early 20th Century Condition: two very minor losses - a chip to one of the dragon's horns and a small chip to the bottom of the dragon's tail. 24 cm / 9.5 inches high. A historical example from Hongzhi reign (1488-1506) in Ming Dynasty. The censer decorated with under glazed cobalt painting depicting two figural scenes: "Worship the Moon" and "Carrying a Qin to Visit Friends". This censer used to be the collection of National Museum of Philippines, There is another identical one in the collection of National Museum of China in Beijing. Condition: The censer was broken and reattached, please see photos for detail. Diameter: 7-1/2", Height: 4-7/8".

Antique Japanese scroll painting, with an arrangement representing a bounty of good fortune. Fish top a bushel of rice and are tied with roped straw in an auspicious presentation meant to bring in a bounty of fortune. Adding to it, three of the Lucky Gods make an appearance in miniature, treating the decoration as if it were a boat or their ship of good luck. Sumi ink on silk. Dates from 18th century.

A trumpet-mouth porcelain vase (觀音瓶）decorated with Mirror-black glaze (烏金釉). Six under-glaze-cobalt characters "Daqing Kangxi Nian Zhi" mark inside the foot rim, 18/19th century. Condition: foot rim ground; three chips on the foot rim; scratches on glaze. Height: 13-5/8".

Antique Japanese scroll painting of a monkey seated near a blossoming peony. Painted with great expression and much attention to the details of the face, hands and feet of the monkey. Every hair is carefully brushed. Painted in light mineral colors and ink on silk. Bone ends. Signed Mori Sosen (1747-1821) with seal.

A very rare portrait of the highest ranking official in the Emperor's court. This is based on the rank badge of the crane and the red hat. The painting is very intricate with a lot of gold work. The sleeves are painted with the heads of the Imperial Dragon and in the center there is a painting of the elusive flying pearl. The tips of the armrests and carved with the Linzhi mushroom. Antique Chinese scroll painting of 100 birds, swooping, fighting, sleeping, and eating insects in and around a gnarled tree and rocks. Painted in ink on paper, signed Gao Wen Liang and with two seals. 60 years cyclical dating.  In our opinion this scroll dates from 18th century or older.
