Sold. Jizo Bosatsu and Amida Nyorai standing side by side, Jizo with hands forming the gassho adoration mudra and Amida with hands forming the Amida jo-in meditation mudra, sculpted in relief from a gray-hued volcanic stone. Late-Edo Period ca. 1800. Excellent condition, with only minor old loss.
Height: 42 cm An uncommon stone. Finely cast statue of Bodhidsattva Vajradhara, of typical Newari style, wearing diadem, necklace and dhoti, sitting on a double lotus throne,hands crossed on his breast, his left hand holding the bell, his right hand holding the vajra. Gilt bronze. Nepal, late Malla period, 16th century. Height: 7.2 cm. Gilding partly missing on some areas, otherwise very good condition.
