A large bronze vase with flat and relief inlays of different metals, gold, silver and sentoku. In cartouches of animated scenes. On the base a row of fabulous creatures and a row of mythological characters. Very beautiful quality model for this style of inlaid bronzes. Japanese work from the end of the 19th century. A rare and interesting, rectangular incense burner (koro) of Seto ware covered in a wet, curry-coloured glaze running thin at places, leaving the raw core exposed. Japan, probably early Edo, c. 1650. H 6.5 cm, L 10.5 cm, W 7.5 cm. Condition: Excellent with slight wear from use.

Vintage Japanese Showa period ink and color on paper scrolled painting of trees by Uda Tekison (1896-1980). The black ink signature and red artist’s “Tazen” seal are at the lower right. Oversized Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga woodblock print by Tadashi Nakayama (b. 1927) titled “Afternoon in Blue.” The print was executed in bold colors with gold and silver highlights set against a brilliant blue background. This vertical image is pencil-signed “T. Nakayama,” numbered 44/85, and dated 1982 in the bottom margin. The red Nakayama seal is on the back. Paper size: 42" x 27 7/8” (image: 35 3/8" x 23”)...

An interesting modern water dropper (suiteki ) for ink painting of sculptured form with a rough Bizen feel to it. The maker name Shozo impressed on the bottom and inscribed tomobako storage box. He studied ceramics at the Prefectural Ceramics Center of Mashiko, He built his own kiln in Ashio Town.

It is as if drifts of snow have piled up on the garden stones, leaving dark recesses filled with shadow in the low winter light, a fabulous Tsubo by Kimura Morinobu enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kuroji Kakewake Hakuyu Tsubo. A cute Kutani ware incense box and cover (Kogo) in the form of a mandarine duck (Oshidori) in typical Kutani color pallet: green, yellow, blue and black. The bottom part with Kutani stamp at the base. Enclosed in an inscribed old tomobako. L 8,5 H 5 cm. Late Meiji to early Taisho. Good condition.
