Antique Japanese cast iron pair of lanterns in the form of a owls. Each with wide eyed expression and great feathered "horns". These lanterns are made to hold candles, the light escaping through the eyes and many round cast windows in the owls' bodies.

Antique Japanese Shō, mouth organ (flute) used in Gagaku (classical performances traditionally for the imperial court). A musician blows through the silver lined protruding mouthpiece. The air travels through the bamboo tubes creating notes (said to sound like the Ho bird or phoenix). Skillful musicians are able to blow air in and out of the mouth pieces creating sustained, uninterrupted notes. A striking vision of black blasted with ocjer glaze wrapping in rivulets around to a single beaded drop by Oiwa Tomoyuki enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled unpretentiously Chawan. It is 13.5 x 12 x 10 cm (roughly 5 x 5-1/2 x 4 inches) and in excellent condition.

Japanese netsuke of a Kappa. A whimsical  folklore creature that looks like a  turtle with a face suppose to be around lakes and streams. Made of boxwood sitting on a lotus pad, delightfully carved. Signed on back. Dates from the Showa age c 1950.

Antique Japanese six-panel screen painting (byobu) with a design of fans on silver leaf ground. Each fan is an intricate scene of sections carefully salvaged from even older paintings. Fans with battle scenes, peonies, maples, pines, bamboo, waves and more. Painted in mineral colors and gold leaf on paper. The silver leaf of the screen has beautifully oxidized over time.

Pair of Japanese shokudai candlesticks made of copper with chrysanthemum shaped base and crown. Original warm patinas finish consistent of its age. Each is quite sturdy and ready to be used once again to light a sacred space.

Antique Japanese Suzuribako depicting rolling landscape with young pine and early cherry blossom trees. Inside cover lacquered in gold with flowering wild flowers along a bamboo fence and a slender crescent moon finished in silver. The night sky is speckled in gold.

An antique Japanese portable storage box for tea ceremony accoutrements. Made almost entirely of Kuwa (Mulberry) wood, it has a bamboo carrying handles. Lift out door opens to a storage compartment with a removable split level shelf. Four drawers of varying sizes were used to house an assortment of tea ceremony paraphrenalia. All original including the bronze hardware.
