The inscription on the back by a monk Maezono Hokyo reads that the donor, Mr. Sugaeda asked the then Minister of the Right, Kasanoin Ieatsu (1789-1866) to write the kanji for the plaque of the teahouse he was donating to Kitano Shrine in Kyoto.This was 2 years before Kasanoin Ieatsu resigned. He then had a carver carve the characters 'Gen Tei' Eternal Space' on a wood sign. 39cm wide x 24cm high x 3 cm deep. Ask for shipping quote.
