Bronze vases, inlaid with precious metals. The artist used all known Japanese alloys, shakudo, shibuichi, sentoku plus gold and silver. The decoration represents cranes in the middle of a lotus field. The whole is highly symbolic, the cranes of immortality and the lotuses of Buddhism. Good condition. Height: 215mm.

Catching the light at the right angle, rainbows of color shimmer on its surface and the unglazed base reveals the iron-rich clay this piece is fashioned from. Oribe is a visual style named after the late-16th-century tea master Furuta Oribe (1544-1615). Typically, black or green glazes are applied to the bodies of these works and light-colored windows are created using feldspar. These high-contrast areas then act as a canvas upon which abstract, minimalistic, and often naturalistic themes are painted...

A lacquered document/paper storage box known as a Bunko by Yamazaki Ritsuzan decorated with firefly squid in a very modern style enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hotaru Ika Maki-e Bunko. The box itself is singed inside the lid. It is 25.5 x 36.5 x 12 cm 10 x 16 x 5 inches) and is in overall excellent condition.

They have minor rubbing paint, a chip at the geisha's thumb, surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

This piece is very rare as the master made few pieces. It was laid at the bottom of anagama kiln for 10 days, so its patterns were made by natural ashes over it. Originally shikigawara is tea ceremony utensil, it is usually used as tile to be put on with stove. The natural pattern is very beautiful so it may be interesting if it would be used as ornament or plate for food or flower arrangement. Size: 30cm(square) 3.2cm(thickness)
