The lion is in embossed and chiselled sentoku, inlaid with silver,shakudo and gilding (or gold?). The inside is gilded on lacquer and the mane and hair are made of stretched silver threads. The maedate are mostly made of polychrome wood or gold lacquered, more rare are those made of dry lacquer, those made of metals are usually very simple.
