Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure

This painted pottery figure was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). Note the detail to the clothing and head gear. It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a greyish-brown pottery that has been cold-painted in pigments, traces of which still remain in places.

Height 22 cm (8.5inches)...

Chinese Western Han Dynasty Cord-Impressed Pottery Jar

This rare and sizeable pottery jar was made over two thousand years ago during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8) or possibly as early as the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). It is made from quite a high-fired pale grey pottery and has a tall wide body with a flared mouth. Below the shoulder the surface has been decorated with repeated cord impressions.

Chinese Warring States Impressed Pottery Jar (475 - 221 BC)

This wide pottery jar was made during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). It has been made by the coiling method and is relatively highly-fired. It has a wide flared mouth. The surface has been decorated with repeated geometric impressions.

Small Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Kangxi

This small dish was made in the late 17th century during the Kangxi reign (1662 - 1722) of the Qing Dynasty. The attractive underglaze blue decoration features flower blossoms. To the underside are floral scrolls and to the base is a seal mark within double rings.

This dish was recovered from a shipwreck by Captain Michael Hatcher of "Hatcher Cargo" fame.

Rare Chinese Tang Dynasty Changsha Glazed Stoneware Ewer with Inscribed Poem

This rare stoneware ewer was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906) at the Changsha kilns, Hunan province, generally accepted to be the first kilns to produce underglaze polychrome decorated ceramics.

It has a "lobed" body and a short multifaceted spout. The front has been neatly inscribed in underglaze reddish-brown with a poem in Chinese characters that we have not translated...
