Rare Song Dynasty wide mouthed jar from the Jizhou Kilns, Jiangxi China, with mottled dark brown “soy” glaze. If this had more amber highlights it could almost pass for “tortoiseshell”. Excellent original condition, with stable glaze (no fritting). H: 12.2cm/4.8in and D: 10.5cm/4.1in

Set of four porcelain bowls, glazed in pink, green, and turquoise. Lotus flower shape. Three are marked Daoguang and one Tongzhi. Good condition except for the large bowl which has a crack on the underside (see photo). Dimensions: Large: 17 x 13 cm, Small: 13 x 6 cm. China, late 19th century.

Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure

This painted pottery figure was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). Note the detail to the clothing and head gear. It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a greyish-brown pottery that has been cold-painted in pigments, traces of which still remain in places.

Chinese Western Han Dynasty Cord-Impressed Pottery Jar

This rare and sizeable pottery jar was made over two thousand years ago during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8) or possibly as early as the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). It is made from quite a high-fired pale grey pottery and has a tall wide body with a flared mouth. Below the shoulder the surface has been decorated with repeated cord impressions.

This wide pottery jar was made during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). It has been made by the coiling method and is relatively highly-fired. It has a wide flared mouth. The surface has been decorated with repeated geometric impressions.

Small Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Kangxi

This small dish was made in the late 17th century during the Kangxi reign (1662 - 1722) of the Qing Dynasty. The attractive underglaze blue decoration features flower blossoms. To the underside are floral scrolls and to the base is a seal mark within double rings.

This dish was recovered from a shipwreck by Captain Michael Hatcher of "Hatcher Cargo" fame.

Rare Chinese Tang Dynasty Changsha Glazed Stoneware Ewer with Inscribed Poem

This rare stoneware ewer was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906) at the Changsha kilns, Hunan province, generally accepted to be the first kilns to produce underglaze polychrome decorated ceramics.

It has a "lobed" body and a short multifaceted spout. The front has been neatly inscribed in underglaze reddish-brown with a poem in Chinese characters that we have not translated...

The vase is made of hard-paste porcelain. It is decorated with Fenghuang (phoenixes) surrounded by stylized flowers, glazed in famille rose tones. On the sides are two Buddhist lion masks covered with a beautiful, bright gilt that contrasts with the matte gilt of the decoration. A discreet incision on the exterior of the neck adds subtle elegance. The base bears the Qianlong mark, painted under the glaze in cobalt blue. Late Qing or Republic of China. 136 x 115 mm

Beautiful Burmese jade inkstone grade "A Fei Cui", with apple green highlights and an elegant carving of the full moon shining through peach blossoms is carved at the top. There is an unpolished blemish on the lower right hand corner on the back. L: 9.2cm/3.6in, W: 5.4cm/2.1in and thickness: .6cm/.2in., 632 carats/grams. Included is a presentation box and certification for a reputable Hong Kong Gemology Lab.
