Chinese Yuan Dynasty Black Pottery Lady (AD 1279 - 1368)

This fine pottery figure of a female servant or attendant was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). She wears a long robe and has hands together as though presenting a small vessel or possible foodstuff. Note especially the details of the facial features.

Rare Chinese Song Dynasty Glazed Pottery Figure

This very rare pottery figure was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). The figure, depicted wearing robes and headgear, represents an official. It is made from a high-fired buff-coloured pottery and coated in finely-crackled three colour glossy glazes over, in places, a white slip.

Height 26 cm. It is in exceptional condition. There is no sign of repair to the pottery, as is confirmed by looking inside the hollow body...

A unusually elaborate pottery figure of a female Attendant, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD.), dating to late Ming period c. 1550-1650 AD.

The lady wears a beautiful robe, glazed in green and yellow Sancai colors. She has an imposing hairdress with a scarf around it. She carries a basket with fruits or flowers on one arm, as if she was returning from the garden. The figure is placed on a square plint.

This fine and impressive pottery jar (hu) was made some two thousand years ago during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is made from a fairly high-fired reddish pottery and is coated in a finely-crackled green glaze covering the outer body and inner mouth, the colour of which varies in places according to its thickness. A pair of museum quality, large pottery figures of male attendants, dating to the mid Ming Dynasty, ca. 1500 AD.

The figures are placed on large Lotus thrones on top of high hexagonal plints in two-color yellow and green glazed robes. Also known as the Sancai colors.
