One can easily recognize Shoulao, god of longevity, accompanied by his deer and holding the peach of immortality in his right hand and his stick in the left. The deer holds in its mouth a Lingzhi mushroom of immortality. The work is important, the sculptures do not have the perfect but cutesy aesthetic of the 18th century and would suggest that this pot is a late popular clumsy creation...

This pottery model of a horse with its groom was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). Both items are made from a fairly high-fired grey pottery and have been "cold painted" in white, pink, black and red pigments... Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty red flambe-glazed Buddhist lion dogs seated on plinths. The female is playing with a cub and the male's left forepaw rests on a ball. Custom carved wood stands. 9 1/4" high (10 7/8" high on the stand). 19th century. From a Paradise Valley, Arizona estate.

Chinese Qing to Republic period porcelain lion dog seated with an open mouth revealing ferocious teeth and a well-formed protruding tongue, covered overall with a golden amber glaze. 8 1/2" high x about 8" long. Early 20th century. An old price tag is adhered to the unglazed base. Very good overall condition with possibly a tiny loss or production flaw to the side of one tooth. From a Paradise Valley, Arizona estate.
