Inspired by the large protective statues found in the Imperial Forbidden City, dating to the Ming dynasty. Cast bronze with fine chased decoration, the bells are movable. Condition: fine. Dimension: c. 21.2 cm high x 12 cm wide x 14.5 cm deep, weight: c. 6.8 kg.

Condition: Fine, but with one small chip to enamel on the inside of the lid.

Two reserves on the upper and lower portion of the gourd form are decorated with scenes of birds and blossoming flowers. Each vase has a small lid with a stem shaped handle. Either side of the gourd form is outfitted with intricate gilt bird handles.
