The Ming dynasty tradition of mortise and tenon joinery can be seen and experienced in this later Ming form day bed. The Zitan bed platform rests soundly on all four inverted horse hoof legs. Mortise corners frame the woven bamboo rattan seat cover. For added flexibility, roped lacing and carved wooden support structures help reinforce the durability of its function.

The back and side rails form a lattice-like structure called “wheel of life” pattern...

A rare early (female) Buddhist Guardian Lion painted with unevenly distributed crackular over glaze turquoise enamel. This item was probably made in China during the 17th or early 18th Century.

Condition: very good - there are many small under glaze firing cracks; there is glaze loss to both eyes and there is 'kiln grit' to the base. No chips or external cracks and no repairs or restoration...

Chinese pair of huanghuali wood official's hat chairs. Simply and smoothly carved with a cusped edge on the front legs. Rattan seats. Provenance: from the collection of the Santa Barbara Museum, California. (Note regarding the Museum label: little was known about Chinese hardwoods at the time this label was made. Thus the wood is mislabeled "cherry wood").

Chinese nephrite jade mythical animal of a light celadon green with inclusions natural to the stone. The form is plump from its body to its limbs. The view from the bottom shows rounded legs with nicely carved claws on each paw. Size: L.5.5cm (2 inches) W. 3cm (1.18 inches)

Framed Chinese 18th Century, mid- Qing dynasty Qianglong period kesi 5 claws dragon cushion cover. This rare, delicate red ground gold threads kesi cover is decorated with a 5 claws dragon surround by sea waves, clouds, auspicious symbols and pair of bats. Dimensions: 70 x 62 cm without frame, 95 x 85 cm with frame. Condition: no repair, threads loose at forehead of the dragon, a few wear overall in good condition as shown due to the age. Framed pair of Chinese Imperial Kesi 5 claws gold threads dragon fragments, Qianglong Period. These pieces are fully decorated, blue ground five claws dragon with 卐 "Wan" characters, Lingzhi shaped clouds and cross shaped floral patterns. Both Dragons are gazing to their own firing pearl. These pair are probably made for the shoulders part of a dragon robe. Dimensions: 32 x 23 cm each without frame, 92 x 46 cm with frame...

Framed Chinese 18th century imperial blue ground gold dragon kesi fragment. This twisted gold dragon is surrounded by five color lingzhi shaped clouds. Dragon robes for the emperor contain nine dragons on them and this fragment pretty much sure is the front badge because of the empty space at the upper left corner where is to reserve for the edge to do extra work and decoration to sew buttons to the side of the robe...

Antique Chinese, Yuan Dynasty (1279–1368 A.D.), Crackle – Glaze, Ge Type Ceramic Jar of a bulbous form with a raised short moulded mouth, the - exterior of the jar is covered with mat finish, pale celadon -greyish crackle glaze leaving the shoulders, mouth and the foot rim unglazed. The interior of the jar covered with glossy crackle glaze.

The jar comes together with its old, elegant rosewood stand...

18th Century Chinese Kangxi period Blue and White Porcelain deep scalloped rim Sauce Dish, Ca. 1661-1722, 4 1/8" diameter, 3/4" high, underglaze blue design of 8 panels of alternating with men fishing and Peony floral branches in the wide outer rim, and old man walking with tree branch tall walking stick on the river embankment in the center. Very tight glaze hairline on the top of the Pagoda design less than 1/2" long.

18th C. Chinese Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain small Sauce Dish, Ca. 1661-1772, 3 3/8" diameter, 7/8" high, with underglaze blue design of Peach Branches inside scalloped rim, this dish has been glued 2 pieces together, as is condition.

Rare pair of Blackwood side chairs. These were usually reserved for the men. This is classical Northern Chinese design. Very simple but elegant, classical Ming design. My favorite type of Chinese furniture. Size: H.104cm W.52cm. Age: 18th century Condition: Old repair on one leg. See last photo.
