1900's Chinese Gilt Silver Enamel Reticulated Box

It is 2 inches (5.08 cm) tall by 1.95 inches (4.95 cm) wide and 0.75 inch (1.9 cm) thick. It is 64.8 gram. The silver box is 26.5 gram.

It is tarnished and has rubbing of gilt, missing enamels, enamel cracks, and surface wears and scratches. The interior box has cracks and small chips at the opening rim. The silver lid does not close tightly. It is loose (as seen in the photos).

The sides with irregularly ‘cut’ bands. Signed by the contemporary ceramic artist Kim Jinkyu, born in Daechon in 1972. Republic of Korea (R.O.K.), dated 2011. Fine Chinese Northern Song Dynasty Glazed Stoneware Water Pot

This globular water pot with a lobed body was made during the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1127). It is a coated in quite a thick glossy and finely-crackled creamy-white glaze that just falls short of the shallow foot that remains unglazed, revealing the creamy-white stoneware body. Diameter 8 cm, height 6 cm. It is in fine condition and has no restoration or repair.

This fine quality porcelain jar was made during the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127 - 1279). It is quite thinly-potted and made in two sections luted together at the waist. The body is nicely decorated with incised vertical lines and a repeating leaf band around the shoulder. Around the shoulder are four small loop handles. Beautiful long cloth with benibana dye (safflower dye) shibori pattern. In Edo period, benibana was grown in Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku district and traded to Kyoto in paste. It was very precious and used for luxurious kimono. This cloth might have been used for hem cloth for kaya (mosquito net) hung in the Japanese style room. Faded but in good condition. It has some jointing stitches and stains. Late 19th to early 29th century. W:16cm, L:9m46cm
