Plovers soar over strips of white and gray along the jagged edge of a green pool on this elongated Oribe slab platter on four raised feet by Kato Kuniya enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Oribe O-zara. It displays much of the most notable aspects of Mino ware, from the rough white clay torn and scarred, the rich green of Oribe copper, and the snow-white and gray and of Shino and Nezumi Shino wares. It is 65 x 28.5 x 10 cm (25-1/2 x 11 x 4 inches) and is in perfect condition.

Sold, Thank you. A roll of cotton cloth (tanmono) of the Kurume kasuri with Kikko (hexagonal), tortoiseshell pattern. Kurume kasuri was invented by Inoue Den around 1800, a woman lived in Kurume in Fukuoka prefecture in Kyushu. This cloth is for a kimono. The technique of weaving kasuri in Kurume changed from handloom to machine weaving around 1883.

The name Iyo-zome is originated from Iyo sudare (bamboo screen) since the pattern looks like wood grain by looking through two layers of them. Small globular shaped jarlet with two loop-handles and is covered overall in a green ‘lead’ glaze, except for the base.
Measurements: diameter (2.6”inches across including loop handles), height (2.1”inches).
