sold A very unusual Pottery vase in Sino-tri-colored style by Miyanaga Tozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Sansai Kodai-Mon Kabin. It is 20 cm (8 inches) diameter, 24.5 cm (10 inches) tall not including the red wood stand and is in excellent condition. This is the first piece I have ever seen by this artist in this style, and after more than a quarter century of looking at Japanese ceramic art, I would guess that to be quite a rarity.

The hand gesture, or mudra, of Amida Nyorai can symbolize the welcoming of a faithful devotee's soul at the time of death. The statue's head is with an elongate head dress and a crown. A red silk textile finely handwoven, using the supplementary weft technique, with gold-wrapped and colored silk threads. From the Malay-related people of Palembang, in Sumatra Indonesia. The central panel (badan) is filled with flower motifs in a lattice. Followed by a band of bird-like creatures and the triangular bamboo shoot motif. Condtion: traces of wear and age, minimally faded, few thin areas, creases. Dimension: c. 81 x 211 cm.

This bowl showcases deep, rounded walls that elegantly rise to a subtly everted rim, supported by a straight foot. The interior is beautifully adorned with a central flower head, surrounded by bordering patterns. The exterior features charming floral scrolls, all rendered in underglaze blue.
