$1,800.00 Wonderful distorted grey shoe shaped (kutsugata) Shino-Oribe Chawan made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls. The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical feldspatic Shino over an iron oxide based engobe. It was made in the early stage of the Edo Period (1603-1868). Clay and rough glaze with some large pin holes indicate a rather early manufacturing date and firing in an anagama. The decoratio... |
