Chawan tea bowl, typical for drinking matcha green tea, used in the tea ceremony. Standing on a foot in the shape of a bamboo node, the sides are slightly curved inwards. The hip shaped by soft facets, the upper sides with diagonal, soft indentations. Soft grayish stoneware covered in a dull, soft pink glaze. An overglaze black drawing of a pile of stone with a morning glory in Rinpa style, with a signature of the painter.

Inspired by the large protective statues found in the Imperial Forbidden City, dating to the Ming dynasty. Cast bronze with fine chased decoration, the bells are movable. Condition: fine.
