Japanese stunning cast iron Choshi (Sake kettle) from the Edo Period around 1750.

It is designed with a great relief, showing an Ebisu. Ebisu, also transliterated Yebisu or called Hiruko or Kotoshiro-nushi-no-kami, is the Japanese god of fishermen, luck, and workingmen, as well as the guardian of the health of small children. A fine articulated gold vermeil (14K gold over sterling silver) green enameled fish. In excellent condition, it measures 3" long and 2" across its fantail. Dates circa 1930's.

Museum quality ancient Han dynasty, 206 BC – 220 AD, lead green deep dish from Luoyang, Henan Province. Excellent patina with the original silvering left intact on the rim of the dish. The 3rd photo shows a spur mark left by one of the clay firing stilts used to prop the dish to prevent it from sticking to the kiln floor. Beautiful, yet unusual two-section tansu from the Nigata region of Japan, made from kiri wood. Reddish brown lacquer has been applied to its hardware to give it a very nice contrast to the woodgrain. It has four large drawers with gunbai style iron handles mounted upon pierced and stylized mounts, with a large fan-shaped lockplate in its center, pierced hardware along the front frame between each drawer, and quarter-circle hardware in the drawer corners. Antique Chinese bronze hanging bell with beautiful casting and patina. It hangs by a hook shaped as a two-headed serpent, and its sides are decorated with phoenixes (fenghuang in Chinese, ho-o in Japanese) flying with their head downwards and their long, beautiful tail feathers floating up and over their bodies. The phoenix is a bird of the Sun, so a small Sun adorns two sides of the bell, along with curling motif running along the bottom. Size: 6.5" height, 4.75" width
