$1,600.00 A familial image of quail perched on thick grains of Awa (Foxtail millet). Beautifully sculpted from a firm porcelain, they are unglazed, likely from the later 19th century Kutani kilns. The back of one of the birds lifts off revealing the incense chamber. The sculptured form is one piece (excepting the lid), 12 x 12 x 12 cm (5 x 5 x 5 inches) and is in fine condition but for one slight chip in the corner of the porcelain lid. It comes enclosed in an old wooden box.
