$875.00 An antique Japanese bronze turtle sculpture, okimono, from the Meiji period (1868–1912). The sculpture has exquisite naturalistic details in the shell, skin texturing, eye and feet. Eyes are inlayed with gold. The piece is presented on a separate piece of dark, aged wood, which is a display base.
The base of the turtle bears a chiseled artist's signature, or kakihan, that maybe translates to "Meishin" (美心).
