Bold Tsubaki designs cover this six sided Mizusashi Water Container by Ito Motohiko exhibited at the 34th Shinsaku Togeiten Exhibition of New Works (2006) enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Nunome Tsubaki Mon Mizusashi. It is 16 x 15 x 21.5 cm (6-1/2 x 6 x 8-1/2 inches) and is in excellent condition, with the original ceramic lid.

This very rare and unusual pottery figure was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906) or possibly before. It is made from a relatively highly-fired buff-coloured pottery that is almost solid.
