An antique Korean Jang temple chest made of Odong Namu (Paulownia) and Chamnamu (Cryptomeria) woods. The front was designed with 24 framed square panels with upper and lower rows displaying horizontal grain panels and center rows displayed in a vertical grain. Two hinged doors open to a spacious storage area where temple garments and textiles were stored. Interior has its original paper lining.

A large and very attractive brushpot (bitong) carved from a cypress wood trunk with the gnarled surface adding to its natural beauty. There are traces all-over of black lacquer. Very good patination all-over. Late Ming to early Qing, 17th century. H 17 cm, W 19 cm. Condition:Good with a few minor cracks. The bottom recently re-made in hardwood (hongmu).

A very unusual Edo period ceramic sake bottle with handle and a screw-on pewter lid decorated with two Dutchmen enclosed in an ancient custom made wooden box. It is 12 cm (5 inches) diameter, 29 cm (11-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition. Unprecedented, I have never seen another like it.
