Sold An antique Japanese Sendai Tansu kimono chest made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original Urushi lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware. Side by side top drawers denotes the matriarch design. Three large drawers, two smaller drawers and a hinged security door that hides two drawers for valuables completes the storage.

Figures of frogs are given as gifts to those who travel so that they may return safely home. Frogs are considered messengers and represent prosperity, fertility, and the coming of Spring. This kaeru is carved with details of bumpy skin, lacquered eyes and has an artist's signature on his belly.

Standing on six feet, the vertical supports and handle are made of naturally formed bamboo rhizomes.
