A Japanese blue & white porcelain dish, moulded in ‘kraak’ style with the cavetto featuring butterflies and peaches in relief. The rinka or petalled edge with flowers. The centre of of the dish has a depiction of a gated pavilion set in a fabulous garden. Arita 1750 ~ 1770. A bowl with a very similar border design and alternate moulded butterflies and peaches is shown in the Catalogue of the Shibata Collection, item 3321.

One nice set of cup/stand was well mold.
It was applied on the surface with persimmon glaze. The body clay revealed was whitish gray tint.
Both were in old feel.

Antique pair of Japanese shokudai (candle stands), made of bronze. Beautiful simple design with faceted stem and small chrysanthemum shaped detail where stick meets base. Each stand has a little hook and circular candle guard.

Antique Japanese pair of shokudai (candle sticks). Made of copper repousse and overlaid with silver, these candle sticks are decorated with a intricate chrysanthemum and scrolling vine motif. The base and top of each of the candle sticks flares out and is lobed in a chysanthemum form with scalloped edges.

A jar of squat form with three lugs and a short neck with flaring mouth. Moulded peony spray decoration in low relief on the shoulder. A well potted jar of globular form, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a collar of lotus petals around the neck and a continuous floral scroll meander on the body. Off-white stoneware body with a transparent glaze. The base unglazed. Annamese ware ( Vietnam ) fifteenth century. H : 7,4 cm. Diameter : 8,3 cm. Condition : Perfect.

A Chinese scholar's calligraphy brush rest, composed of mixed metals, in the form of a dragon resting on clouds. The hollow underside shows patina from oxidation.

Antique Korean bowl, with a rich crackle celadon glaze. Its outer edges are incised with thick lotus petals. The bowl displays small, buff areas, bare from the natural dripping of the glaze.

15th Century

Dimensions: 6.5" x 2.75" H

A lid for an urn vase, coffee or chocolate brown glaze with Famille rose enamels in leaf-shaped reserves. Chinese so-called Batavia or Capuciner brown ware, early 18th century. Diameter 3¼" / 8 cm, the inner rim to fit a vase or urn opening with a diameter of 1½" / 3,9 cm or more. Condition: fine.

Lidded box, a soap box of quatrefoil ogee shape. Decoration of a garden family scene and a Qilin procession in the soft Famille rose colours of the Tongzhi period but later, probably c 1920. Stamped Tongzhi mark to the base, and a Beijing shop sticker. Length " 4½/ 11 cm, height without the handle "2/ 5,5 cm. Condition: slight wear (cf. pics).

This is the second tea bowl in our collection made by first class potter Kingyoku Nakata. It was made around 1980. A plum tree is hand-painted on the bowl. It is in mint condition with no chips or cracks.

It is well known that his works were brought by the Showa Emperor and the Prime Minister as hospitality gifts to a lot of European Presidents in 1983.

It comes with its originally signed and sealed wooden box.

An old silver alloy offering vessel of oblong form, the outside repoussed with two monster masks among scrolls. Base with chiselled symbol. According to Urs Ramseyer in "The Art and Culture of Bali", these bowls were dignity symbols of the Balinese gentry, filled with betel accessories. Condition: few traces of usage.
