SOLD A large Japanse woodblock print, by famed artist Tadashi Nakayama. The depiction is the shadow of a bronze Giboshi (architectural post) against a large Buddhist temple door, with silver leaf accent hardware. Signed, dated in pencil, number 24/50.

$145.00 Pair Chinese Green glazed on pottery Foo dog Joss Stick Holders, Ca. 1920, 5 1/4" high, 1 1/2" wide-bottom, 2 3/4" deep-base, 4 1/4" maximum depth, very nice small size, they usually used in the temples on the Altar. Some of the green glaze pieces are chipped off which is very typical for this type of green glaze on pottery pieces, no major damages. Still retained Export Wax Seal on top of the head.

Sold Thank you. Kaji-banten worn by a fireman (fire-fighter) with all hand-stitched sashiko. It has katazome (stencil-resist-dye) "gissha", wheels of a cow carriage motif. It has rather rare green lining. In excellent condition except for some wear and rips in the lower front.

SOLD Unusual Japanese gyosho bako tansu (merchant's chest). With original red lacquer finish, this large piece holds three very deep drawers, each with squared kakute iron pulls on stylized pine tree mounts. The top drawer features a large central lock with flying crane motif, while the lower drawers feature chrysanthemum locks. The sides of the tansu also have two handles for traveling.

Wonderfully preserved color, especially the delicate green of the sky.

SOLD Japanese two section tansu, made with Kiri (paulownia) wood with natural finish front drawers, and original black lacquered frame. The piece has pine tree shaped hand-forged iron lock plates, with warabite iron pulls. The locks are incised chrysanthemums and the corner hardware is fan iron plating. The piece holds a side lock box with a large decorative iron chrysanthemum plating and keyhole. Inside the box are two small drawers with triangular plates and round pulls. From the Sakata region.

There are 12 gold coins with images of 6 ancient kings - six on each side. There are 2 kings that we recognize - one is Vasudeva I, the other is "Ohsho" holding an elephant goad, thunderbolts, a trident and a goat. The center bead is a oblong fluted gold bead. $475.00 A superb quality very large pottery figure of a male attendant or official, dating to the earlier Ming Dynasty, 1400-1500 AD.
The figure is placed on a high hexagonal plint and wears a fine two-colour blue and turquoise glazed robe. The unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white. Finely painted facial details. The head is attachable as often seen on the largest figures from this period. The figure holds his masters Ming hat in his arms.
