The netsuke features a kappa head with a long bend beak. It is made from a stag horn, has a deep green patina, double inlayed eyes and inlayed himatoshi. A kappa (河童, "river-child") is a type of yōkai, or supernatural creature, that inhabits rivers, lakes, and swamps. They are typically depicted as amphibious, human-like beings with a turtle-like shell on their back, webbed hands and feet, and a depression on their head that holds water. Perfect condition. 3 ¼ ” x 1”.
