Lovely Iban woman’s skirt from the Kapit region in Sarawak, circa 1940-1950. The broad center field is woven from handspun cotton and natural dyes. The red use in this is particularly rich. The narrow bands on the side are made of commercial thread and dye. This has a Bangit fruit pattern, which signifies “abundance”. There are a few minor frays and inevitable “pinholes”, but IMO the condition is good. L: 102cm/40in and W: 52cm/20.5in. Bought this about 20 years ago in Kuching...

Fine Vietnamese 14th / 15th Century Moulded Bowl

This rare bowl was made during the 14th - 15th century and is coated in a finely-crackled pale greenish glaze, much like a Chinese qingbai type of glaze. Around the centre is a wide unglazed stacking ring, and around the inner wall are various moulded floral patterns, albeit a little indistinct. Apart from unintentional glaze splashes, the foot remains unglazed revealing the pale grey porcelaneous body.

This round box was made during the 14th - 15th century at the Sawankhalok kilns. Both cover and box have been decorated with an incised scrolling floral pattern, the design accentuated with the use of two different coloured glazes. The inner surface and base remain unglazed.

This very small stoneware box was made during the 14th - 15th century at the Sawankhalok kilns. The top of the cover is formed as a stemmed fruit. It is coated in a golden-brown glaze that has, unfortunately, mostly flaked away from the lower surface. There is no repair or restoration. Diameter just short of 4.5 cm.

Vietnamese 14th Century Underglazed Bowl

This bowl was made during the 14th century. It is quite "heavily-potted", has a flared rim and has been decorated in underglaze cobalt with floral and scrolling patterns. In the centre of the inner surface are spur marks. It is coated in a clear glaze, its fine crackle being stained in places. The foot remains unglazed revealing the pale creamy-grey porcelaneous body.
