A moon rises behind the silhouette of a ragged tree by Kimura Hyakuboku enclosed in the original signed wooden box dated 1934 and titled Rokagami. Bordered in soft gray silk with dark wood rollers suiting the scene. It is 21-1/2 x 69 inches (54.5 x 175 cm) Kimura Hyakuboku (Shunzo) was born in Tokyo in 1884. A rare Polychrome Woodcut "Artisansin Straw" by Mitsuoki Tosa (1617 to 1601), Japan, framed. From a collection of Artisans. Good condition, size: 19.5" x 13.75". Tosa Mitsuoki was one of three outstanding Tosa painters to the imperial court, also known as "Three Brushes".

An exquisite Lacquer Tray decorated with a spray of flowering Azalea in gold powder with mother of pearl, ceramic and lead inlays. Large kirigane flakes of solid gold decorate the petals. It is enclosed in a wooden box titled Tsutsuji Maki-e Nagatebon (Azalea Makie-e Tray). It is quite large at 19-1/2 x 14-1/2 x 2 inches (49.5 x 37 x 4.5 cm) and is in fine condition, dating from teh later Meiji to early Taisho period (1895-1915).

Sold! Impressing black Raku tea bowl of the Raku family, made and signed by the 10th Kichizaemon Tan-Nyu.

The signed box is labeled “10th generation”, which means Tan-nyu (1795-1854). The reverse side of the lid has an appraisal of the grand tea master of Omoto-Senke.

Sold! Little distorted half cylinder shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay during the Edo Period with strong black ink glaze and a rarely seen patina.

The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical black iron oxide glaze inside and outside. The chawan has a very rare 'decoration' with hanging persimmons (hoshikaki) scratched into the engobe and a tea room window inside and a plum blossom painted under the clear glaze...

This is hemp Umakake used in Iwate for Edo period. As for this, hemp is spun by hand and is thick. This item is a state of the most common damage about hemp Umakake. When Umakake is used many times, damage increases. And the hemp added to a good texture when use and washing were repeated many times. The good-quality natural indigo plant becomes the color such as this item...

Standing Bato (Horse-Head) Kannon Bosatsu, the hands forming the gassho-like Bato-in mudra and a small horse head perched atop the figure's head, sculpted in relief from tuff, an igneous stone composed primarily of volcanic ash. Clearly dated to the second year of the Ansei Era (1855), late-Edo Period. Minor old loss. Light lichen accumulation.

A lovely Japanese porcelain Imari bowl with 2 ho-ho birds in the center symbolizing yin yang. Two more elaborate birds are painted on the inside panels. Unusual to find a decagonal bowl, it is in excellent antique condition with expected wear to the gold trim on the rim. Measures 7" (17.8 cm) across by 3" (7.6 cm) high. Signed on bottom. Dates 1700

This is decoration cloth used in Iwate for Edo period. This is dyed in indigo plant, black, Bengara- color. Hemp thread is spun by hand and this is thick. The back side is dyed into this with a natural indigo plant. This is cloth for ceremonies of the celebration. This has few stains, but there is not the damage. The state is complete. Size 542cmx 25cm (214 "x 9.8")
