Sold Antique Japanese lacquer jingasa, samurai's hat. Round rim with a gradually pointed top. Lacquered black and decorated with a design of 3 flying cranes in swirling clouds and with a Narabi-ya (double arrows) mon in raised gold lacquer.
The samurai class in feudal Japan, as well as their retainers and footsoldiers (ashigaru), used several types of jingasa made from iron, copper, wood, paper, bamboo, or leather...

Signed on the reverse with an incised signature by the artist: Kyokusho Saku or Made by Kyokusho (Iizuka Kyokusho, the go or art name of Iizuka Sounsai, active early 20th century). Late Taisho – early Showa era, circa 1920 – 1940.
Iizuka Kyokusho was a brother of Iizuka Rokansai and Iizuka Hosai. He worked in Tokyo, and liked to work with slat bamboo...

Sold Inrô of three black lacquer compartments decorated with raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) of ducks on the water or in flight on both sides.
One of the faces shows four ducks (one per box) in different postures among a decoration of stylized bamboo leaves. The upper one in flight, head to the right, the second facing left and about to land, wings spread apart, the third in a resting position, head on its wing, the fourth on the water, leaning its head forward...
The Kura
sold, with thanks! A very rare colored figurine of a egret standing, foot raised, by Miyanaga Tozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Known best for his celadon and sometsuke porcelains and tea ware, this figurine is a scarce example of his talent with figuration. Beautifully rendered in life-like detail, it is 21 cm (8 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

Sold, Thank you! A breathtaking Koro in the shape of a roaring lion by Miyanaga Tozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden box. This is one of the best pieces I have ever seen by this important artist. It is 25 cm (10 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
Miyanaga Tozan I (1868-1941) is one of the most important names in Kyoto ceramics... A pair Japanese porcelain plates decorated with a mountain hermitage and some roundels one containing a rabbit in the Ko-Kutani palette. Base with "fuku" mark, the rim with brown dressing and the underside with pine needles. Condition: fine, base with partial brownish stains and dull glaze. Dimension: diameter: 18.8 cm x 3 cm high.

Sold. Thank you. Baby's ceremonial kimono made of Echigo-jofu which is hand-woven of choma (ramie) and dyed with indigo. The fine kasuri pattern is yoko-gasuri (weft kasuri) and bamboo, pine tree and plum bloom motifs. Echigo jofu was first woven asa kasuri in mainland Japan having been influenced by Ryukyu (Okinawan) kasuri.
