sold thank you This is a tsutsugaki yuzen-dyed cotton kimono made in the Edo period with a indigo-dyed fabric.
The material is cotton. There are slight stains from age. There is damage around the hem of the lining and on the edge of the front collar. The yellow lining is also made of cotton and feels very nice to the touch. Size: Length: 145cm(57inch) / Cuff to cuff, across the back: 115cm(45.2inch)

Sold, Thank you. A roll of cotton cloth (tanmono) of the Kurume kasuri with Kikko (hexagonal), tortoiseshell pattern. Kurume kasuri was invented by Inoue Den around 1800, a woman lived in Kurume in Fukuoka prefecture in Kyushu. This cloth is for a kimono. The technique of weaving kasuri in Kurume changed from handloom to machine weaving around 1883.

Indigo dyeing and Plant dyeing. To dye it black, you first dye it with a liquid made by boiling the nuts of trees such as tsurbami and yasya, then soak it in a liquid containing iron to develop the color.There are some remaining grains (protrusions) from the aperture.
It is in good condition with no damage.

This material was the highest quality item for children in the late Edo period. The finest materials are used by skilled craftsmen to draw the finest lines, which are extremely sharp and delicate. The cotton material is hand-spun men-chijimi.

Sold, Thank you. Bashofu kimono hand-woven of ito-basho, which is a family of banana tree. Both wefts and warps are hand-plied. The brown warp kasuri yarns are dyed with extract liquid from tree or root of "sharinbai", which is a family of rose, and the very dark blue weft kasuri yarns are dyed with Ryuku-ai, vegetable indigo in Okinawa. Bashofu has been woven in many Islands in Okinawa for everyday kimono or work wear. 20th century. It has some stains and holes. W:106cm, L:116cm

It is handwoven of choma (ramie) whose wefts and warps are hand-plied, and the surface has light shrinkage from twisted warps and wefts. It has hand-painted flower motifs. The lining of collar cloth is thin silk, probably dyed with benibana (safflower). In excellent condition, no hole or no stain. 19th century...

During the Edo period, silk was very expensive, so kimonos were often made without throwing away even the smallest scraps. This item uses plenty of linen thread as the basting thread. The lining is red silk from the Edo period. There are slight stains. there is some damage to the silk stripes. See image.
