Up for sale is this wonderfully textured 19th century Japanese cast iron tea kettle made by noted Kyoto-school tetsubin craftsman Kibundo ( 1812-1892 ).

It is cast in high relief with the image of writings and a landscape.

This fine kettle bears the body-mark “Kibundo zo” and a remnant of the square seal mark of Kibundo on the bottom.

The quality of the relief casting is superb...

Egg shaped vase with a black-red patina. Signed on the bottom. H. 18 cm. Showa period (1926-1989). Good condition, original tomobako. Master casting artist Kazan Yokokura continued to enter contests, mainly centered on Nitten Exhibition. 1915 Born in Yamagata Prefecture, northern Japan 1951 Won for the first time a prize at the Nitten Exhibition (and won many prizes at later exhibitions). 1959 Won special commendation "Hokuto Prize" at the Nitten Exhibition...

A splendid and unusually large tetsubin decorated with geometric patterns with peonies and butterflies set within a frame. This piece is a collaboration of two major artists. The body has a seal by the kama-shi or tea kettle maker, Okuni Jurou, and the lid is signed by Kinryudo. Okuni Jurou, along with his father Okuni Toubei were famous for their skill and artistry during the Meiji and Taisho Periods. Condition is original and excellent. Size: Diameter 9.5" Height 14"

Japanese antique tetsubin (kettle for heating water for tea), made of cast iron, dramatic and very three dimensional design of a dragon in swirling waves, highly raised with wonderful detail, bronze lid with lotus pod. Meiji Period c1900. Size: 9" high including handle x 7 1/2" wide including spout.

This is a beautifully rendered Japanese Tetsubin. Done in Iron with gorgeous mixed metal inlays of gold and silver. Portrays persimmon fruit branch with birds an Maple tree leafs representing Fall. Signed Lid on bottom reads Ryubundo, the noted studio that produced cast iron tea kettles. Dimensions: 8 3/4'' High X 6 1/2'' Wide

Decorated with bamboo and characters (poem?). The bronze lid signed on the inside by Ryobundo. Condition: old repair on the inside of the pot. Late Meiji, early 20th century. H. 21 cm, Diameter 16 cm.

A fine Japanese lid rest or futaoki as it is known in the tea ceremony. The lid rest is done in a technique known as karakane or bronze and has been hammered. The tachizuru or motif of standing cranes is often seen in various tea accessories representing the rise of auspiciousness. The lid rest comes with a tomobako with the name of the lid rest and the artist, Seishu. Age: Late Showa Period Size: diameter 2.1" height 2.1"

Delightful Japanese antique tetsubin (tea pot), made of cast iron. The handle is beautifully shaped. The lid is of bronze with a flower bud as the lid handle. Japanese cast iron sake kettle (choshi) with the characteristic flattened spout decorated in low relief on one side with prunus blossoms and on the other side with bamboo. The wooden lid is covered with stippled lacquer. These iron kettles were used to heat sake during the cold winter months. Flower form finial. Meiji period (19th century). Measures about 7 3/4" to the top of the handle and about 9 1/2" across to the tip of the spout. The kettle is in very good overall condition...

A very elegant Japanese sand-cast iron tea kettle and brazier (furokama, fuuro-kama) of unusually small size (making water for one person). The round brazier (Furo) has an opening on each side; the kettle with a tapering top is finely cast with romping horses, loose ring handles and delicately shaped top with simple knob. The brazier with cast mark 'Nanbu, Morioka, sei(?) mitsu(koi) dou. Nanbu and Mizusawa of Morioka in Iwate prefecture (northern Japan) has been famous for cast iron wares...

Set of five handmade copper chataku (coaster for sencha tea cups) with recessed centers, each applied with gold and silver powders. Meiji period (1868-1912).

Old rodan and gotoku for Japanese tea room, heavy item made with beautiful craftmanship from the Meiji period (1868-1912). The rodan is placed in the cut out hole of the tea room. Inside the rodan, the gotoku stand is placed (shown upside down in our photos) in ash for kama or kettle.

The dimensions of copper rodan: 16"w x 16"w at the top (the rim is 2.5" wide) and 10" in heigth. The bottom is 11 1/2" x 11 1/2". Old iron stand, gotoku is , 9 3/4" across and 6 inches tall.

Pair of Japanese antique sake warmers, made of bronze with silver finish, incised all over with beautiful scrolling motif, lovely patina overall, come with kiri wood tomobako. Size of each: 6 1/2" high (including handle) x 8 1/2" wide (including spout).
