Beautiful and striking large Japanese ceramic Tokoname jar, wonderful shape, large kiln fragments, thick ash glaze with unusual subtle blue and yellow striations and free flowing drip lines, Momoyama Period (1573-1615). (The Tokoname Kiln is considered one of the "6 Ancient Kilns" and was located at Tokoname on the Chita Peninsula, bordering Ise Bay.) Size: 19.25" high x 12" wide x 12" deep.

Beautiful set of 5 Oribe dishes with a chrysanthemum flower motif on the bottom of each dish. Rich olive green glazes with iron rich colorings. Taisho Period C. 1920. Great condition. 10cm x 10cm. Comes in a wood box. Ask for shipping quote.

The Size of Tolkkuri: 4 5/8" High x 2 3/8" Dia, 2 1/16" Bottom. The size of Each Sake Cup: 1 5/8" Dia x 1 13/16" High. This is very unusual and fine classy Japanese Kiyomizu Yaki Sake set by Sawamura Tosai 3 rd (1951-). It is made with fine quality Kiyomizu Yaki refine earthern body. The wall thickness on Tokkuri is only 1/16" Thick less than 2 mm. So as Sake cup has only 1 mm thick on wall. Tokkuri as well as 2 sake cup has the hand written signature of Tosai in blue underglaze (sometsuke)...

A delicately painted Satsuma pottery jar with two courtyard scenes of daily life for the Japanese elite. The rest of the jar features a complex ground of various patterns. There has been a professional repair to the vase lip, but otherwise excellent. Measures 6 inches high with lid. Signed on bottom.

Japanese Satsuma Earthenware square shape small Censer, Incense Pot, Meiji, 1900, 2 1/8" high, 2" square-top rim, supported by four(4) small bracket feet, the Gold and enamel painting are very small finely done. Each Panel is decorated with flying Dragon, Phoenix Bird and other flying Mythetical animals in round circling cartouche in the middle with accented by detailed design. The condition is good except some raised fine detailed gold paintings are worn.

Japanese Satsuma Earthenware round covered Container, signed by Sozan, Ca. Meiji period 1868-1912, 1 3/4" high, 2 5/8" diameter, very fine quality of brush strokes, family gathering in courtyard setting in the center, surrounded by very intricate small floral and mosaic design outer area on the round high dome top cover, and continue on to the bottom piece...

A medium sized Japanese Oribe dish with a rich, brilliant green glaze and plum blossom brush painting. The crackle in the glaze adds to the design and the edging is painted. The bottom is unglazed and has 4 indented strips. Invented in Japan in 1605, Oribe ware introduced vivid pattern and color to a ceramics tradition that had previously favored somber, monochrome designs.

A very nice Japanese, Meiji Period (1868-1911) drum form Satsuma lidded box with two faux molded handles to the sides. The exterior and interior of box and lid each are decorated with scenes. Signed on bottom, it measures 5.5 inches diameter, 3" high.

Japanese satsuma Earthenware Vase, signed "Kinzan" on the bottom in gold in the black background, Ca. Meiji period, 1880's, 6 1/4" high, 3 1/8" wide-widest part, with brilliant gold accent on finely overglaze hand painted figures under the Pink Flowering trees around the entire vase. Gold diaper design in black on the neck and repeated wide leaf pattern border in overglaze enamel on the bottom, signed "Kinzan" in gold on the bottom. The condition is good.

Japanese tenmoku ware ceramic vessel with ribbed handle, short front spout, and wide open top. The thick oil slick glaze stops just short above the foot left in buff. Tenmoku glaze is made with feldspar, limestone, and iron oxide. The more quickly a piece is cooled, the blacker the glaze will be. Tenmokus are known for their variability. During their heating and cooling, several factors influence the formation of iron crystals within the glaze...

Massive Meiji period Japanese Satsuma globular form tripod jar or “koro” (incense burner) in the form of a gathered pouch (Daikoku's bag), the bulbous body elaborately decorated in overglaze enamels and gilt highlights with “karako” (Chinese children) and other figures engaged in various leisure and scholarly activities in a garden setting. 3 pieces Japanese Kutani Earthenware Tea Set, Ca. 1940's, consisting of Tea Pot(8" high), Sugar with cover(7 1/4" high), Creamer(5 1/2" high) with beautiful floral branches and bird flying between enclosed panels with overglazed brick red and brilliant green color on the crazed glaze. Tea pot spout is glued small piece together around 1/2" area, handle of Sugar bowl is glued together. Marked on the bottom "Great Japan Kutani made".

Chinese Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) pottery jar with splayed neck and everted rim covered overall with an iridescent green lead glaze. Characteristic kiln support remnants are on the base and mouth. 5 1/2" high x about 5” diameter. Very good overall condition. Three kiln kisses are on the side of the jar. This jar is from an Arizona collection. It was purchased in 1996 from Lam’s Gallery in Hong Kong.
