Bronze cast using the lost-wax technique, Chinese work from the early Ming dynasty, 15th-16th century. Traces of red and gold lacquer remain, but this lacquer was added late; it crudely covers the superbly carved patterns on the robe. With the lacquer gone, the statue has regained its original splendor...

$600.00 Stoneware tile finial covered with yellow glaze. Molded dragon decoration. The dragon's style, mane, claws, eyes, and color indicate that this tile was created at the beginning of the Ming period to cover an imperial palace, probably Xuande or Yonglo.
A very interesting and moving historical document, a testament to one of the most prestigious periods in Chinese history.
All these 15th-century tiles from the imperial palace were replaced; most were destroyed, but some remain in some museums...

Stunning stone wall rubbing of the Chinese God of Wealth Caishen 財神 aka Zhao Gongming趙公元帥 . Circa Qing Dynasty. Riding astride a a magnificent tiger he carries a sword and small scepter. L: 128cm/50in x W: 56cm/22in unmounted dimensions. This mounted on a white silk paper scroll, there is quite of bit of mold staining (foxing) on one side of the scroll.
