The Chinese deity of war is seated. On his robe are depicted the six dragons symbolizing good luck. Bronze cast using the lost-wax technique, Chinese work from the early Ming dynasty, 15th-16th century. Traces of red and gold lacquer remain, but this lacquer was added late; it crudely covers the superbly carved patterns on the robe. With the lacquer gone, the statue has regained its original splendor...

Stoneware tile finial covered with yellow glaze. Molded dragon decoration. The dragon's style, mane, claws, eyes, and color indicate that this tile was created at the beginning of the Ming period to cover an imperial palace, probably Xuande or Yonglo. A very interesting and moving historical document, a testament to one of the most prestigious periods in Chinese history. All these 15th-century tiles from the imperial palace were replaced; most were destroyed, but some remain in some museums...

A rare Chinese cloisonne enamel chamber candle-holder, Qianlong period, 18th century, decorated with formal lotus on a blue ground within a darker blue key-pattern border. The central candle-holder is made seperately and detaches. Diam. 13.5 cms. Good condition.

Stunning stone wall rubbing of the Chinese God of Wealth Caishen 財神 aka Zhao Gongming趙公元帥 . Circa Qing Dynasty. Riding astride a a magnificent tiger he carries a sword and small scepter. L: 128cm/50in x W: 56cm/22in unmounted dimensions. This mounted on a white silk paper scroll, there is quite of bit of mold staining (foxing) on one side of the scroll.

Chinese antique bronze jue, a wine vessel for drinking fermented millet beverages in rituals to ancestors. The libation cup is supported by three tapered legs. The wide mouth rim is has two finials on either side and an animal-headed handle on one side. The body of the cup is encircled with three raised bands of archaic leiwen motif. The underside of the cup has a raised, rectangular cartouche with and inscription stating the vessel is from the 3rd year of the Qianlong reign...

Chinese Qing dynasty silk brocade lady’s winter coat covered overall in a dense pattern of small phoenix and dragon roundels among clouds and precious objects all set against a purple ground. The center front opening holds five metal buttons. High collar and wool boucle lining. Late 19th to early 20th century. Measures about 29 1/2" long by 51” from sleeve tip to sleeve tip. Very good overall condition. From an old Tucson, Arizona estate.
