Unglazed rim for firing upside down. 9 1/8” diameter by 1 3/8” high. The effort to produce high quality Ding ware reproductions in China apparently began after Cultural Revolution in 1978. Their imitation works were so successful that they were exhibited in Hong Kong in 1984...

The bottom of the box is carved around the circumference with waves and the base holds a square "Wang Bingrong zuo" mark. The interior is turquoise blue. Characteristic of Wang Bingrong’s dragons, the box is entirely glazed in a monochrome mustard brown color except for the dragon’s black and white eyes...
