Fine Japanese miniature garden kit, all made with natural material, ca 1940-1960, original wood box. We used a simple cardboard box as a tray with small black pebbles under. You can created/draw water if the sand is used instead. The dimension of the box are 15 3/4” x 7 3/16” x 3 5/8”. Fence: 9 1/8 long (flattened for storage) x 3 3/4” high. Board with a frog: 5 1/8” long. Please ask for other measurements.

The teapot 7.5 inches (19 cm) with handle up and 5 inches (12.8 cm) tall with handle down by 5.7 inches (14.6 cm) wide. The small teapot 3.7 inches (9.5 cm) tall by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide. The sharing cup is 1.6 inches (4.2 cm) tall by 4.2 inches (10.7 cm) wide. They are 1.6 Lb (25.8 oz).

They are tarnished and have surface wears and scratches...

This is a beautiful vintage kasuri kimono in new condition. The color is dark Japanese indigo blue (aizome) and white. The fabric is thicker and loosely woven, all hand sewn. Dimensions: 47 3/4" (sleeve to sleeve) x 52" long

A fine ivory colored celadon by the first generation Kato Keizan enclosed in the original signed wooden box and containing the original exhibition pamphlet in which the vase is featured from the 1956 Takashimaya Department Store Exhibition marking his 50th year of working with clay. This vase was chosen by the artist for his exhibition pamphlet, making it, at least in the eyes of the artist, one of the more important pieces he had made at that time...

A studio piece featuring Opal White glaze robes, head piece, and beard with fine details, holding a staff and scroll, with a beautiful expressive face representing Jurojin, the God of Longevity and Wisdom. Signed. Height: 19 inches, 48 cm.

This is a very elegant and high quality Japanese silk obi from Nishijin, Kyoto. The dimensions of the obi are 12 1/4" wide and 160 3/4" (13'4 3/4") long. About two-thirds of the front (104" long) is woven with gold. There are 2 full designs of an ox-cart with pine branches in the center area – only one of them is shown in the first photo – the other one is on the other side...

Fine decorative fan featuring two white rabbits under the gleam of the moon. The sumptuous gold background is producing a shimmering effect. Rabbit is often appeared in East Asian folklore as a messenger from the moon, where it is seen pounding in a mortar and pestle...

A night in the summer when fireflies wink their light. The exquisite moment at dusk is finely depicted on the decorative gold leaf background. It is in excellent condition. This piece is a pair with another fan item# 1118796.

A large sculptural vase by Eiraku Zengoro XVI (Sokuzen, 1917-1998) enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating from the 1950s, an era when Japan was redefining its own views on art. This is an excellent example of work from that time. Born into traditional tea ware, Zengoro XVI was with the rest of his compatriots, experimenting with new ideas and new forms, unafraid of a dawning new era. This piece is 35.5 cm (14.5 inches) tall, 17 cm (7 inches) square and in fine condition...

Japanese 2-panel screen painting depicting a scene of a samurai standing with armor on but with a nuns head cloth and with monks beads in his outstretched hand, behind him are three beautiful warrior women wearing beautiful brocade underneath their armor and nuns head cloths with blossoming plum branches, each has a bow and arrows. Painted in mineral pigments and ink on paper. Painted by Kitamura Meido (1896-1962), known for specializing in human subjects...

Vintage bronze vase with patterns of butterflies made by an artist named, Nobuharu. The piece contains an inscription dating to March of 1953 where students from Tojo Photo Studio gave the vase to their teacher in celebrating the 40th anniversary of their studio. A large silk painting of a scene from the history of Japan by Kai Seihyo (1882-1974), one of Japan's noted painters specializing in historical subjects. Kai Seihyo was trained at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts. It was later in Seihyo's life where the artist began producing unique historical subjects and received high acclaim where Seihyo was known for his paintings of samurai and horses.
