A traditional oribe ware handled dish decorated with geometric patterns and the signature green glaze that oribe wares are known for. The green glaze used for oribe is thought be difficult to produce and only the most skilled potters can produce the green color by knowing the temperature and timing when fired. The dish was produced by the Gensui kiln in Seto city Aichi prefecture. The studio specializes in producing oribe wares. Age: Showa Period. Size: height 10" diameter 14.5"

Beautiful and unusual Jomon Era vessel from the Shiizuka Kaizuka archaelogical site in present day Ibaraki prefecture. The Jomon Period (14,000 B.C.~ 300 B.C.) is considered to be the most intriguing period in Japanese Art history. Beautiful antique Japanese Edo Period Imari Large Octagonal Bowl Decorated with scenes of rural sea side huts. Inside there is a large kirin in swirling clouds. Wonderful patterns of chrysanthemums, blue underglaze with orange, green and gold details. Seal in blue on the bottom of bowl. Age: Late Edo Period (1803 - 1817). Size: 12" diameter x 4.375" height.

Antique Japanese cloisonne plate with scalloped edge. The center has a beautiful depiction of humming birds in flight over chrysanthemum and peony flowers. Meiji period, 1868-1912. It measures 18" wide.

Simple yet elegant sobriquet seal utilizing a Chinese stone similar to chicken blood stone. The seal contains an inscription which translates as: The seal was carved on an auspicious day in December of 1958 (for) Fujiwara Gyokuun. The carved bottom of the seal contains a three character text reading: Kingensen, or The well where gold can be found. Size: height 1.75" width 0.5" length 1.25"

A splendid Japanese woodblock print portraying the view of the noted Sino-Japanese temple, Obakusan Manpukuji in Uji, South of Kyoto city. The woodblock was done by Saito Kiyoshi (1907-1997) known for producing prints of Buddhist subjects and views of the traditional buildings of Kyoto. Age: Late Showa, c. 1968. A view of a gate of a Japanese home found in the outskirts of Kyoto such as Ohara. The print contains an inscription of the title of the work, the date of the print, and the number. A splendid tea container decorated with hydrangeas done in makie. The container is known as a hira natsume, where the wide structure is a signature element. A splendid and refined Satsuma rectangular incense censer. Each painted panel is minutely painted with traditional motifs with images of a phoenix and Shi Shi Lion in raised detail. Exquisite set of Japanese Dairi bina (hina), the emperor and the empress dolls from early to mid Showa period. This is not a large set of dolls. The measurements of the wood box are 17” wide x 12 3/4” tall x 13 1/2” deep. We should add the approximate sizes of dolls. The label indicates that they are from Matsuzaka-ya, a major department store. Matsuzaka-ya started as a kimono store in late 16th century, pre Edo period...
