Japanese Bronze "Signed" Water Dropper, Ca. early Meiji or earlier, beautiful old Bronze Patina with little square raised opening on the top center plus little chimney on the side where water is pouring out little at a time, rectangle shape, 2 1/8" x 1 1/4" wide, 3/8" high, impressed signature on the bottom.

Kappa (cape) which was called "hikimawashi" or "maru-gappa" in old days. It is made of cotton with warp kasuri checker board pattern on one side and cotton stripes on the other side. It was worn on the occasion of travel over kimono. It has wool collar, probably imported. The word "kappa" came from Portuguese "capa". The Portuguese first came to Japan in 17th century. Japanese late Meiji period bronze vase with silver inlaid bamboo decoration on the front. At the bottom of the back is the incised signature of the engraver Mitsunobu. The base reads "Kyoto Kuroda made." 6 1/8" high. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with a nice patina. The silver has not been polished. There is a vertical area on the back that feels slightly flattened, but is barely noticeable.

Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Mt. Fuji From Mizukubo at Evening" by Takahashi Shotei, also known as Hiroaki (1871-1945). Originally published by Watanabe in 1936, this is a post-World War II edition. The artist's black ink signature and red seal are at the lower left. The round 6mm seal of the publisher Watanabe is beside the seal. The paper measures about 10 1/4" x 15 1/4" (image size: 9 1/4" x 14 1/2"). A finely potted large Chinese Imari three colour Charger decorated with a design of a garden with elaborate fence with Lotus finials to the posts and Mudan, flowering Peonies, Asters and various other flowers, coupled with a flowering Baicai, white cabbage (Pak Choi); traditional symbols of prosperity and wealth. Almost square fukusa or ceremonial cloths, with design of a family crest with central flower surrounded by wisteria. Flowers embroidered in gold thread onto a deep blue satin ground. Reverse is red crepe silk. In each of the corners a green tassel with Chinese knot. Japan, Meiji era, ca. 1900

Limited edition Japanese woodblock print by Clifton Karhu (1927-2007) titled "Winter Driveway." Pencil-signed and titled, dated '78, and numbered 19/100 in the bottom margin. Paper size: 12 1/8" x 11 7/8" (image: 9 7/8" x nearly 10"). The print was never framed and is in very good overall condition. There is possibly some faint discoloration to the paper from age. Incense box of irregular circular shape. Over a light gray clay thickly applied opaque, lightly crackled glaze with feldspar that leaves bare a few small areas uncovered, which colored orange red during firing. On the cover a few circular black-brown underglaze "brush strokes".
Although bottom and cover clearly match, they do not make an airtight close line, but leave a couple of gaps. Few very short firing cracks.
