Fine Japanese cloisonne box and tray by Ando of Nagoya. The Ando company, established in Nagoya in 1880, is the only cloisonne remaining workshop in Japan originating from the Meiji period (1868 - 1912) that is still active in the creation of cloisonne enamels. They retain the highly esteemed distinction of being appointed by the Imperial Household.

19th century Japanese single-section lacquered wood merchant tansu with black iron hardware and locks with floriate buttons, bronze hirute handles, and featuring fourteen drawers of assorted sizes. Each side has one iron side lift carrying handle. 36" wide x 30 3/4" high x 16" deep. Very good overall condition with the original lacquer finish and intact hardware...

Beautiful Kutani ware porcelain standing figure of Kannon Bodhisatva (Quanyin), she stands in a relaxed pose with flowing black robes decorated with feathers, she has elaborate gold jewelry and crown with a small buddha in headdress, carefully sculpted and painted from her lovely face to her toes which rest on lotus leaves, late Meiji/early Taisho Period. Minor repairs. Size: 17 1/2" high x 5 1/2" wide

Japanese "zelkova" (keyaki) wood Yonezawa style two-section tansu with round iron lock plates engraved in a butterfly motif and rimmed with a thin band of silvery "hakudo" (nickel alloy). "Mokko" (melon style) drawer pulls and four side carrying handles. Circa 1880. 38"H x 38 3/4"W x 17 1/2"D. The tansu is in very good sturdy condition and has the original lacquered finish. There is a slight warp in the case at the lower lower left side of the drawers and a crack extends across the top...

It is 3.8 inches (8.9 cm) tall by 3.6 inches (9.2 cm) wide. It is 0.9 Lb.

It has stains, rubbing of gold and paint, small and flea bite chips at the rims of the lid and bottom, and surface wears (as seen in the photos).

Japanese shigaraki jar, Edo period 17th-18th century, thickly potted, the skin showing the characteristic pock marks and imbedded fieldspar with a natural ash glaze. This jar was originally used to store tea but became desired as an object of mingei beauty due to the tea ceremony aesthetics. It measures 4.5" wide at mouth 21' tall.

Antique Japanese bronze and mixed metal vase with a beautiful and highly raised design of blossoming magnolia branches and a small bird, great details, late Meiji Period. Size: 7" high

A pair of Satsuma vases decorated with two scenes one is a scene of a group of samurai strolling around the streets of Edo and another view is a group of court nobles walking in a garden like setting. The scenes are surrounded by geometric patterns and a dragon set in a medallion form. The bottom of one vase contains the character for the number 3. Age: Taisho Period. A traditional oribe ware handled dish decorated with geometric patterns and the signature green glaze that oribe wares are known for. The green glaze used for oribe is thought be difficult to produce and only the most skilled potters can produce the green color by knowing the temperature and timing when fired. The dish was produced by the Gensui kiln in Seto city Aichi prefecture. The studio specializes in producing oribe wares. Age: Showa Period. Size: height 10" diameter 14.5"

Beautiful and unusual Jomon Era vessel from the Shiizuka Kaizuka archaelogical site in present day Ibaraki prefecture. The Jomon Period (14,000 B.C.~ 300 B.C.) is considered to be the most intriguing period in Japanese Art history. The odd geometric and abstract shapes in vessels or figurine forms are often found various archaeological sites throughout Japan. Age: Jomon Era Size: height 9.75" diameter 7.25"

Beautiful antique Japanese Edo Period Imari Large Octagonal Bowl Decorated with scenes of rural sea side huts. Inside there is a large kirin in swirling clouds.
